Kravchenko signs off with a bang: charges for NABU chief Kryvonos

Original version ·

Just as the Prosecutor General heads for the exit, he decides to drop a massive legal grenade on the anti-corruption agency.

So, Ruslan Kravchenko is resigning, but he decided not to leave quietly. Before packing his desk, he signed a notice of suspicion for NABU director Semen Kryvonos. The accusations include document forgery and a fake adoption scheme to dodge legal trouble.

Kravchenko claims he’s been sitting on this evidence for ages, waiting for the right moment while dealing with political pressure. He’s essentially calling the anti-corruption establishment a power-hungry cabal that thinks it’s above the law. He alleges this entire conflict was triggered by a separate investigation into a call-center racket, which he calls a distraction tactic to stop him from doing his job.

Basically, the guy in charge of prosecuting corruption is now accusing the guys in charge of investigating corruption of being corrupt themselves. It's a circular firing squad at the highest level of government.
