Zelenskyy shuffles the deck: Klymenko is the new pick for NSDC

Original version ·

Looks like the game of musical chairs in Kyiv is continuing with yet another move at the top.

It seems Volodymyr Zelenskyy Zelenskyy has decided it is time for a change at the NSDC. He has tapped Ihor Klymenko Klymenko, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to step into the role of secretary.

The goal here is simple: tighter coordination. Apparently, the president wants someone who can crack the whip on the Defense Sector to make sure every single order actually gets finished on time. Klymenko was even rumored to be eyeing the Ministry of Defense before this, so he is clearly the go-to guy for the internal power reshuffle.

It is a bold move to put a police-background guy in charge of national security coordination during a war. Time will tell if he can actually make the gears grind faster or if he will just get lost in the paperwork.
