When kids have to beg Ukrainian officials to get them out of danger
It seems a law for forced evacuation exists, but actually using it is apparently too much to ask from local authorities.
Despite a law allowing forced evacuation for kids in war zones, Dmytro Lubinets says the system is a total mess. Instead of a smooth operation, we have kids calling hotlines themselves to beg for a way out.
One seventeen-year-old even had to organize his own rescue with the help of White Angel volunteers before his mother finally agreed to leave. Local administrations are supposedly waiting for the school year to end to start moving, as if shrapnel follows an academic calendar. The government still hasn't even passed the necessary resolution to actually make the law functional.
Bureaucracy moves at a snail's pace while life-or-death decisions are left to teenagers.
