HUR is now using Katran boat-drones to hunt aerial targets over Kyiv

Original version ·

The HUR just revealed that their Katran unmanned platforms aren't just for water, they are literally being used to protect the capital's sky.

It turns out that Kyiv’s air defense is getting a weird, high-tech upgrade. HUR (Ukrainian Military Intelligence) decided that the best way to handle threats might involve putting radar and interceptor drones on Katran uncrewed platforms.

The unit Ferrata, specifically their Black Sea Legion branch, worked alongside the Air Force to turn these boat-drones into airborne hunters. They basically turned sea-based platforms into mobile, floating air defense batteries that coordinate directly with F-16 jets. It is essentially a mix of water and air warfare that looks like something out of a sci-fi game.

Everything is evolving so fast that even the sky over the capital is becoming a playground for experimental drone tech.

Wait, so they put a SAM system on a boat? That's some serious engineering flex.
