Buying 'New' Gear: The Zeveta RPG Scam Costs ₴318 Million

Original version ·

Officials tried to pass off 1980s junk as brand-new anti-tank weapons, and the bill for this 'upgrade' is absolutely staggering.

So, the Agency for Defense Procurement decided to go shopping for 6,000 new anti-tank grenade launchers. The military logistics command literally told them, 'Hey, this specific model is garbage, please don't buy it,' but the deal went through anyway for a cool ₴637 million.

When the shipment arrived, it turned out to be re-labeled 1980s leftovers covered in rust. The scammers had scraped off old Czech labels and slapped on '2024' stickers to make it look like fresh inventory. The best part? This same supplier tried to pull this exact same stunt years ago when the price was nine times lower.

Now the state is out ₴318 million in advance payments, and Ukrainian Armor is out here crying about police brutality during the raids. It’s almost impressive how they managed to find gear from the Cold War and try to sell it as high-tech modern kit.

Nothing says 'defense capability' quite like charging premium prices for a history lesson.

Wait, so they actually thought nobody would peel off the sticker? Lmao.
+3 funnyThe audacity of the sticker-peelers is only matched by the stupidity of the buyers

This is absolutely infuriating. People are dying while these clowns play 'p*** my ride' with literal scrap metal.
+2 emotionalA bit dramatic, but pointing out that 'pimp my ride' is a terrible strategy for military hardware is fair game

I’d bet money they have a 'creative' defense ready for court.
