Germany shuts temporary protection for draft-age Ukrainian men without exemptions
Arriving in Germany just got significantly more complicated for Ukrainian men.
The German Interior Ministry just clarified the new rules: Ukrainian men aged 23 to 60 arriving in the country can no longer claim temporary protection unless they have official proof they are exempt from military duty or left legally.
For anyone trying to stay without valid papers, deportation is now officially on the table. Those who already secured status in Germany earlier are safe under the extension through 2028, but new arrivals will face strict scrutiny regarding their military status back home.
