Germany starts mass-producing Gereon ground drones for the front

Original version ·

Forget flying toys for a second—Germany is putting ground-based Gereon robots on the assembly line to join the fight soon.

It turns out that Deutz and ARX Robotics got tired of prototypes and decided to do what they do best: industrial scale. They are turning a plant in Ulm into a Gereon factory, with the first units hitting the field by the end of the summer.

These aren't just remote-controlled carts. The plan is to pack them with autonomous navigation powered by AI, effectively letting the hardware do the heavy lifting while humans stay out of the line of fire. They are even prepping modular power plants, switching between battery power and hybrid engines depending on the mission profile.

The era of humans hauling gear under fire is officially ending, one robot at a time.

Finally, some proper industrial-scale help. If they can swap batteries in the field, this is going to be a massive game changer for logistics.
