Macron and Merz promise to keep Europe moving
The French and German leaders just dropped a new defense plan, claiming the continent is essentially stuck in park without them.
It’s the classic Paris-Berlin drama: the leaders admitted that if they aren't on the same page, the whole European Union project basically grinds to a halt. They’ve finally agreed on a roadmap for defense, covering everything from early warning systems to long-range strikes.
They even brought Great Britain into the mix for some long-range coordination. The real takeaway is that they are finally trying to build a serious, non-nuclear defense shield, including a new generation of SAMP/T anti-aircraft systems. It’s a lot of talk, but seeing Rafale and Eurofighter jets flying in formation this morning was their way of saying, "look, we actually mean it this time."
History shows that Europe only moves when the engine is running on both sides of the Rhine.
