Flamingo Missiles Allegedly Hit Russian Missile Plant 1,200 km Away
Russian air defense factory Avitek in Kirov woke up to explosions, fire, and an unexpected visit from Fire Point's new toy.
Kirov is 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine, which used to mean safe, cozy defense manufacturing. Not anymore. Morning explosions set fire to Avitek, the factory responsible for making air defense missiles, ejection seats for military pilots, and components for Tor surface-to-air systems.
While local authorities were likely drafting standard excuses, Denys Shtilierman from defense startup Fire Point posted a subtle flamingo emoji on social media. Ukrainian-made FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles appear to have flown deep into Russian territory to deliver targeted feedback directly to the production floor.
It turns out manufacturing ejection seats doesn't help when the entire factory needs an emergency exit.
