The EU and Ukraine just unlocked €343M for dual-use tech
Because why build a drone that only delivers pizza when it can also deliver, well, other things? Our friends in the EU are finally putting serious money into tech that can do both.
The European Commission, along with our Ministry of Defense and the governments of France and Finland, just signed some major deals. The buzzword here is "dual-use tech." In normal human language, this means tech that works for both peaceful civilians and very unpeaceful military situations.
They are expanding industrial capacities so we can build things that shoot, fly, or calculate faster. It's basically the ultimate "get you a girl who can do both" meme, but with high-tech military gear and a massive pile of cash.
It turns out that when the neighbors are loud and aggressive, investing in dual-use tech suddenly makes way more sense than funding another food delivery app.
