EU finally realizes it needs an army before 2030
It only took a full-scale war at the doorstep to get the bureaucracy moving on defense.
The European Union has officially decided that maybe, just maybe, being defenseless isn't the best strategy in a world where Russia keeps trying to redraw maps. The plan is to get their defense house in order by 2030, mostly because Ukraine has been giving them a masterclass in why you actually need to be ready for a fight.
They are finally admitting that their security isn't just a suggestion anymore. The goal is to stop treating defense as an afterthought and start treating it as an existential necessity. It is about time they stopped relying on hope and started buying some actual hardware.
Building a fortress after the wolf is already at the door is certainly a bold life choice.
