EU drops another 3.3 billion on Ukraine to keep the drones buzzing
The European Commission is sending a massive new injection of cash specifically for missiles and drones.
Ursula von der Leyen is opening the wallet again, and this time it is all about hardware. Brussels just greenlit another 3.3 billion euros for Ukraine, specifically earmarked to keep the sky busy with drones and missiles. This is part of that massive 90 billion euro support plan, and frankly, it is the kind of logistics update everyone has been waiting for.
The goal is to stop relying on slow procurement cycles and start actually pumping out the gear Ukraine needs right now. They are even talking about a new joint defense program based on the Freya system, which basically aims to marry Ukraine's battlefield experience with European tech. Money is finally being treated as the most important piece of ammunition.
It is getting harder to argue that Europe isn't all in when they are essentially building a joint defense industry on the fly.
