Zelenskyy: If Russia hits our power, they get the same in return

Original version ·

The game of winter electricity tag is getting serious as the stakes for both sides climb higher.

Zelenskyy Volodymyr just laid it out clearly: if the Kremlin decides to freeze us out again, they should expect an equal and opposite reaction. It is basically the old 'you touch my lights, I touch yours' doctrine, but with long-range drones.

Interestingly, Zelenskyy floated the idea of an 'energy truce' to Fareed Zakaria Fareed. The logic is simple: stop hitting infrastructure, and we stop hitting yours. It is a pragmatic exit ramp, but whether the other side prefers darkness over diplomacy remains the real question.

Mutually assured darkness is not a great negotiating tactic, but it is certainly a memorable one.
