The Netherlands Pushes to Put Russia on Trial at NATO Summit

The Dutch prime minister just put a special tribunal for Russia's war crimes at the top of the upcoming NATO agenda.

The Dutch are not messing around when it comes to international justice. Prime Minister Rob Jetten made it clear that setting up a dedicated special tribunal for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is going to be one of the headline topics at the next NATO summit.

The plan isn't just theoretical either. The Netherlands has already volunteered to physically host the tribunal in The Hague, picking out the actual international zone real estate for the initial setup. The primary goal is targeting top political and military leaders specifically for the crime of starting the war, not merely the individual atrocities committed along the way.

Building a custom court to put a nuclear state's leadership in the dock takes time, but picking out the furniture in The Hague definitely sends a message.
