Broken ribs and 18 days offline: DBR steps into Mykolaiv TCK
Human rights inspectors visited a draft office in Mykolaiv, and what they found goes way beyond typical bureaucratic chaos.
Inspectors accompanied by human rights officials dropped by the assembly point in Mykolaiv to check conditions. Among the recruits, they found a guy who hadn't been allowed to contact his family for 18 days. And to make matters worse, he was sitting there with broken ribs, which he says police gave him during his apprehension.
If that wasn't enough, inspectors also discovered six people detained at the center who actually had a legal right to deferment from service. Now DBR is officially investigating the officers for abuse of power and bodily harm.
Holding a person isolated for over two weeks with physical injuries definitely sets a bizarre record for official procedures.
