Crimea goes dark: Ukrainian drones switch off 19 more Russian-held power stations
Russia wanted to plunge Ukraine into darkness, but karma works in mysterious, drone-shaped ways.
The Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine just expanded their brilliantly named operation, "Crimea Switch Off". Their commander, Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, shared the scorecard on Facebook: 19 more key power substations in the occupied territories and Crimea got a surprise visit from Ukrainian drones.
This is not just a one-off prank. Between July 1 and July 20, Ukrainian operators successfully took out 104 power substations and electrical hubs. That is a massive chunk of infrastructure suddenly refusing to cooperate with the occupation forces.
The target list reads like a nice holiday brochure: Yalta, Sudak, Koktebel, Alushta... except instead of happy tourists, these spots are now hosting a total blackout. The energy grid is bleeding points, and the air defense systems meant to protect them seem to have missed the memo entirely.
Summer in Crimea is notoriously hot, but trying to run air conditioning on sheer imperial pride is going to be a tough challenge.
