Overnight Strikes Leave Crimea in the Dark with a 47km Smoke Plume
Occupied Crimea had another fiery night, and satellite images show the fallout is literally visible from space.
Ukrainian strikes hit key infrastructure across the occupied peninsula overnight, leaving half of it completely without power. A thermal power plant in Kerch caught fire with flames spreading to fuel reservoirs, sending a massive 47-kilometer smoke trail across the sky.
It wasn't just energy nodes taking a beating. Emergency crews and military personnel had a busy night as multiple S-300 and S-400 air defense positions were hit around Kerch and Dzhankoy. Meanwhile, an oil terminal hit days ago is still actively burning alongside fresh fires at military staging areas on the Arabat Spit.
Local occupation authorities quickly confirmed widespread blackouts covering major centers like Yevpatoria, Saky, and Dzhankoy.
Air defense systems tend to perform poorly when they are actively on fire themselves.
