Polish Bartender From Belarus Moonlighted as Arsonist Spy
Mixing cocktails by night, filming logistics hubs for foreign intelligence by day.
From Cocktails to Covert Ops
A 28-year-old bartender working in Lublin, Poland decided a hospitality salary was not enough. Instead of taking extra shifts, he took a gig from foreign intelligence to burn down a massive logistics warehouse in Chełm, right near the border with Ukraine.
His instructions were simple: film the site and pass the video footage to his handlers. Polish counterintelligence caught him before he could set anything on fire. Now the ABW has sent his case to court, where he faces up to eight years in prison.
Russian and Belarusian agencies continue trying to recruit low-level operatives across Poland to disrupt logistics hubs supporting Ukraine.
Swapping cocktail shakers for eight years behind bars is certainly one way to exit the service industry.
