Lights out in occupied Sevastopol after Balaklava plant hit
Occupied Crimea is rediscovering the rustic charm of candlelight, thanks to a sudden nighttime visit to its main power infrastructure.
Occupied Sevastopol woke up to a very dark morning. An overnight strike slammed right into the Balaklava Thermal Power Station, tearing up metal structures, blasting out windows, and leaving a solid chunk of the city stranded without electricity.
That was not the only spot having a rough night. Another blast rocked the area around Omega Bay, prompting Russian police to rapidly seal off the seaside promenade near a local helicopter repair plant. Meanwhile over in Kerch, flames engulfed an airfield housing air defense gear, with the fire spreading alarmingly close to the railway tracks.
Following recent hits on the "Kuban-Crimea" energy bridge, the peninsula's power grid is being systematically unplugged piece by piece.
Keeping Russian air defense busy across the peninsula does not seem to leave much energy left to run the local air conditioning.
