A bad day for Russia's oil fleet: 14 ships hit in the Azov Sea

Original version ·

It seems the Ukrainian Armed Forces just decided that Russia doesn't need its floating gas stations anymore.

It looks like the Azov Sea just became the world's most expensive scrap metal yard. The Ukrainian Armed Forces didn't just nick a few ships; they went for a dozen tankers, a tugboat, and a freighter in one go.

These weren't just random boats. They were the backbone of Russia's shadow fleet, hauling oil to dodge sanctions and keeping the war machine fueled. If that wasn't enough, they also put a nice dent in the Yug Rusi oil terminal over in the Rostov Region. The fire there is apparently quite photogenic.

Economic warfare is usually boring, but burning a dozen tankers at once definitely keeps things spicy.
