Ukraine just hit the Russian shadow fleet in the Sea of Azov
Looks like the Russian tanker business just hit a massive, fiery snag in the south.
Someone finally decided to turn the Sea of Azov into a very expensive scrap metal collection. In a single night, the Ukrainian military put a permanent dent in Russia's shadow fleet, neutralizing 21 tankers along with a handful of tugs and cargo ships.
These tankers were busy running oil and fuel around international sanctions to keep the war machine fed. With 73 direct hits recorded, it turns out that trying to hide your logistics in occupied waters isn't exactly a bulletproof strategy anymore. The pilots from units like Ptakhy Madyara didn't just aim; they effectively ruined a whole logistical network.
It is expensive to ignore the fact that the entire shadow fleet is now basically a collection of floating target practice.
