Air defense neutralizes 137 out of 164 Russian drones overnight
Another brutal night shift for air defenders across the country as a chaotic swarm of jet-powered killers and cheap plywood decoys buzzed through the dark.
Russia threw essentially everything with wings and an engine at Ukrainian cities: 164 drones launched from five launch sites, spanning from Oryol and Bryansk to occupied Crimea and Donetsk.
The mix was bizarrely diverse. Attack waves featured standard Shahed drones (half of them fitted with jet engines for extra speed), newer Gerbera models, and cheap decoy drones literally named 'Parodiya' meant to soak up expensive interceptor missiles.
Aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire teams managed to neutralize 137 of them across the north, south, east, and center.
A swarm of that size still leaves scars. Strikes hit 16 different locations, damaging civilian infrastructure, including a Nova Poshta warehouse hub outside Kyiv.
Burning through jet engines and hundreds of airframes just to wage war on parcel delivery centers remains a striking military doctrine.
