AFU hits a massive Russian oil plant, 10 tankers, and 4 ferries in one go
While some are debating red lines, the Ukrainian military is out there quietly rewriting the rules of naval warfare without even having a traditional navy. Just a casual day at the office.
The target list looks like someone ordered a "destroy everything that burns or floats" combo meal. First, a long-range visit to the Syzran Refinery deep in the Samara region. This giant handles over eight million tons of crude a year, making fuel for the Russian army. It got hit, and yes, it burned.
At the same time, the Sea of Azov turned into a shooting gallery. Ten Russian tankers and four ferries were hit in a swift sweep. Those tankers were busy smuggling Russian oil around international sanctions, while the ferries acted as a floating bridge to haul weapons.
To top it off, Ukrainian forces also smashed a fuel train near Tokmak, taking out its locomotive, and confirmed earlier damage to the Novatek-Ust-Luga facility way up north.
Evading sanctions is a lot harder when the vessels carrying the oil suddenly develop a bad case of exploding.
