Putin's envoy and AfD want the gas taps back on in Germany

Original version ·

It seems Moscow is trying to make fetch happen with a gas revival party, and they've invited Germany's far-right along for the ride.

So, Kirill Dmitriev, one of Vladimir Putin's inner circle, is apparently busy planning a get-together with the leadership of Germany's AfD. The goal? A grand comeback for Russian gas in Europe's biggest economy.

The guest list they’re dreaming of is wild. They allegedly want Donald Trump's people—Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner—to drop by the party. Only catch? Washington says those guys haven't even been told about this meeting, let alone invited. The whole thing is basically a fever dream of political theater, especially since the AfD isn't even in power to sign anything.

It’s fascinating how desperate someone can look while trying to coordinate a reunion that absolutely no one with actual authority is asking for.

This reads like a bad script for a political satire show that got canceled after one episode.
